WBC News and 2011 Trekfest Spring Sale

Well, this may be one of the nicest days we've had so far this spring, so get those bikes out and go for a ride!

This will be the last email for the 2011 season sent to the old email lists, so, if you haven't already, please re-up for the club to stay abreast of all club activities. Here's the link:

The 2011 club ride schedule is now up on the club website:

In addition to these rides, we're doing a Tuesday night trainer workout at the SH thru the then end of April. 6-7 pm. Just call Dan at 457-3377 to reserve a spot. As for rides, our Friday morning TSR ride is now committed to be an easy, 45 minute, social, any bike, any clothing (wear your jeans for all we care) community-oriented ride. Comfort bikes, mt. bikes, unicycles, just bring what you got and come on out! Leaves 8 am(ish) from the SH every Friday of the year in any weather (and we mean any).

Also, April 6-10 (right now!) is the SH's Trekfast Spring Sale where a huge array of bikes and accessories are on sale thru this Sunday. Here's the link for that and don't miss out on the fantastic deals:

The racing season is already underway and WBC's Killington Mountain School Cycling Team (now 24 kids strong with racers aged 8 thru 19) as well as club member, Jim Giller, have already racked up some great results at the Marblehead Road Race, the Chris Hinds Criterium and the Myles Standish Road Race. You can view all New England race results here:

The team, along with club member, Matt Seiple, is off to arguably the biggest race of the whole northeast season, one of the biggest races in the country: the Tour of the Battenkill ( this Sunday, so wish us luck!

Mark your calendars for the KMS Cycling Team Fourth of July Fundraising Fondo, a 60 mile, beautifully scenic, non-competitive ride through Killington, Pittsfield, Stockbridge, Barnard and Woodstock tracing the final stage of the Killington Stage Race, to be held on the morning of Monday, July 4 with a big barbeque afterwards at the Stockman's house up at Bear Mountain! All proceeds will go to benefit the KMS junior team and are specifically earmarked to help pay for the new enclosed bike trailer and additional row of seating in the van. We can now take 12 people in the van and 18 bikes in the trailer to cycling events! Check it out:

This will be REALLY nice for our summer club mountain bike excursions to Milstone, Waterbury, Pine Hill, Kingdom Trails, you name it.

And if you like the very pro look of the trailer, here's your chance to advertise your business: $250 buys you 10" wide ad space on BOTH SIDES of the trailer of the coolest (well, we like to think so) junior bike team in the country. We're certainly the biggest at 24 members!

To sign up for the Fundraising Fondo and the ad space, simply go to the KMS CT registration page:

and sign up. I'll receive an email and I'll follow up with you on your logo. The $250 includes all design and decaling work by Winning Image in Pittsford, VT, so all you need to do is sign up with your credit card and we'll take it from there. For most of the sponsors so far, we've been able to take their logo right from their website, so it's no muss, no fuss advertising, all to support a fantastic cause: getting kids out on their bikes!

See y'all out on the road!
